In Pakistan, there are 13 customs
stations where goods imported
from abroad can be cleared after
assessment and on payment of duties
and taxes. In Karachi there are
Customs stations of Appraisement,
Preventive, Port Qasim and Export
and in the rest of the country
the Customs Collect orates are
located at Hyderabad, Lahore (Appraisement
& Exports), Multan, Quetta,
Faisalabad, Gujranwala, Rawalpindi
and Peshawar. Under the CVIS all
these customs stations would be
electronically networked so that
they can feed their respective
data of assessed import values
of each individual consignments
on daily basis and on arrival
of this data at one central place
and after scrutiny by the System
Administrator the entire data
would be released for viewing
by general public and would also
be released into AS/400 Computer
System as networked with all the
Customs stations for exclusive
viewing by the Customs. The salient
features of the system are as
under:
FOR
VIEWING BY GENERAL PUBLIC

the country showing HS-Code,

of valuation database i.e.vdb
of all the items.
the viewers can also send E-mail
to CVIS Center for seeking further
details.
FOR
VIEWING BY CUSTOMS
the entire information which
is available to the general
public on the internet would
also be available to Customs
on visit to the CBR Website
as mentioned above.
the data separately released

by Customs.
the networking of all Customs
stations through a dialup modem
with the AS/400 Computer System
would provide every individual
custom station the facility
to view its own as well as the
data of all other Collectorates.
the records under the (b) above
would be current as well as
preceding two years old.
the separate record under AS/400
